Our History

Joel P. Newman was a partner of the firm and worked alongside founding attorney Harry Tempkins beginning in 1970. Together they developed a respected Miami Beach law practice serving individuals, families, and businesses throughout South Florida. Their partnership continued until Mr. Newman's passing and their work helped establish the foundation and reputation that continues to guide the firm today.

Harry Tempkins, Esq.

Harry Tempkins has practiced law in South Florida for more than five decades. A graduate of the University of Florida, he received his Juris Doctor in 1970 and began practicing law in Miami Beach that same year. Mr. Tempkins previously served as a Sergeant in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Knox, an experience that helped shape his disciplined and practical approach to the practice of law.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Tempkins has represented clients in real estate, condominium, and homeowners association matters throughout South Florida. He is also a licensed real estate broker and mortgage broker, providing clients with practical insight into the real estate and lending industries.

Mr. Tempkins is a past President of the Miami Beach Bar Association and has long been active in the local legal community. He also served as a founding director of the South Florida PGA Foundation, the charitable arm of the South Florida PGA dedicated to supporting youth, families, and military programs through the game of golf.

Mr. Tempkins has appeared before Florida appellate courts in multiple matters, including Keane v. President Condominium Association, Inc., Vorbeck v. Betancourt, and Almacenes El Globo De Quito, S.A. v. Dalbeta, L.L.C.

He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and the Supreme Courts of Florida and Colorado.

For more than fifty years, Mr. Tempkins has provided experienced legal counsel to individuals, businesses, condominium associations, homeowners associations, and property owners throughout South Florida.
